This short was written by writer Sherman Alexie (www.fallsapart.com) as part of the Seattle International Film Festival Fly Filmmaking Challenge. Gene Tagaban (The Business of Fancydancing) explores the Indian musical style known as a “49”. The film also screened at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival, the 1 Reel Film Festival (Seattle), the Northwest Film and Video Festival (Portland, Oregon), and the Anchorage Film Festival. 49? also played at the Florida Film Festival, at South By Southwest (SXSW) and the Lake Placid Film Festival. It was also included in The Best of the 30th Northwest Film & Video Festival, a collection that toured the greater Northwest in 2004.
